O significado de “This is it”

A nova canção de Michael Jackson, “This is it” - lançada oficialmente hoje no site do cantor - é a prova de que o músico planejava um retorno em grande estilo aos palcos. Jackson morreu em Los Angeles em 25 de junho, aos 50 anos, quando encerrava os ensaios do show que levaria o nome da música. O material dos ensaios, realizados no Staple Center em Los Angeles, foi editado como longa-metragem, com estreia marcada para o próximo dia 28. Com o show, todo tipo de material promocional, inclusive o CD duplo com 20 faixas, todo de regravações. A exceção é “This is it”. Outra canção, “Shake your body (down the ground)”, foi lançada em 1976 e permaneceu desconhecida. O espetáculo seria uma espécie de adeus de carreira.

“This is it “ é a melhor canção de Jackson desde “Black or white”, lançada em novembro de 1991. E talvez representasse uma volta às origens. A música tem um arranjo leve, no estilo que Michael adotou no início de sua carreira. Os vocais remetem a “Rock with you”, do LP Off the wall, de 1979. A linha melódica é simples, a harmonia sem firulas e o refrão pega na hora no ouvido, como uma canção clássica da soul music. Não para menos. A música foi composta em 1976 por Jackson em parceria com Paul Anke, autor de “Diana”. Anka não foi creditado no CD, e está reclamando.

É mais uma vez uma balada de amor, com um toque messiânico (leia letra abaixo). “É isso aí, aqui estou/ Sou a luz do mundo, me sinto tão bem/ E tenho esse amor que posso sentir/ E eu sei que é real”.
